Sorenstam to retire after season (AP)
Annika Sorenstam has few peers on the LPGA Tour after one of the brightest careers in golf. So when it came time to announce her retirement, she drew a parallel to a star in a different sport. He has three second-place finishes but no wins in 10 events on the year.

Woods hopes to play Memorial in 2 weeks (AP)
Tiger Woods is chipping and putting again, and he hopes to play in the Memorial in two weeks. But even if he can't compete until the U.S. Open, he doesn't expect the same result as his last layoff during a season. Two years ago, Woods didn't play for nine weeks while coping with the death of his father.
